CAT Srinagar Bench to Hold Circuit Sitting in Kargil from April 15–17 to Expedite Case Disposal

Date:

Kargil, April 2026: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Srinagar Bench is set to hold a three-day circuit sitting in Kargil from April 15 to April 17, aiming to improve access to justice for local residents.

Bringing Justice Closer to People

According to officials, the circuit sitting will allow litigants in Kargil and nearby areas to present their cases locally, reducing the need to travel long distances to Srinagar.

The initiative is expected to facilitate faster disposal of pending service-related cases and provide greater convenience to government employees seeking legal remedies.

Focus on Speedy Case Disposal

The Central Administrative Tribunal primarily deals with service matters of government employees, and such circuit sittings are aimed at ensuring timely and efficient resolution of cases.

Officials noted that the move will help:

  • Reduce case backlog
  • Enhance accessibility for litigants
  • Strengthen the justice delivery system in remote regions

Hybrid Mode Hearings for Greater Accessibility

The sitting is expected to be conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing both physical and virtual participation, ensuring wider access for applicants and legal representatives.

Boost to Legal Access in Remote Areas

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the administration to decentralise judicial services and extend legal infrastructure to remote and geographically challenging regions like Ladakh.
