PM Modi Felicitates Vice President-Designate C.P. Radhakrishnan in Delhi

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday felicitated Vice President-designate Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan in the national capital, marking an important moment following his victory in the Vice Presidential election. The felicitation ceremony highlighted both the political significance of his election and the personal respect he commands across party lines.

Extending warm wishes, PM Modi praised Radhakrishnan’s dedication to public service and his long political journey. A seasoned leader, Radhakrishnan has earlier served as a Member of Parliament and Governor of two states. His elevation to the post of 15th Vice President of India is seen as recognition of his experience, humility, and commitment to democratic values.

Radhakrishnan secured a decisive win against the opposition-backed candidate, with a margin that underlined not only the numerical strength of the NDA but also cross-party support. Several MPs from outside the ruling coalition are believed to have voted in his favour, reflecting his broad acceptability.

Political observers note that his victory further consolidates the NDA’s position in Parliament and ensures strong coordination between the two Houses. His tenure is expected to play a key role in guiding the functioning of the Rajya Sabha, where the Vice President serves as Chairperson.

The felicitation by the Prime Minister underscored the importance the government places on inclusive leadership and the role of the Vice President in upholding parliamentary traditions. With this, Radhakrishnan formally begins his transition into one of the highest constitutional offices in the country.
