PM Modi Raises Alarm Over Spread of Fake Videos, Warns of Disruptive Consequences

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a public rally in Satara, Maharashtra, voiced deep concerns regarding the proliferation of fake videos on social media platforms, warning that they pose a significant threat to societal harmony and the peaceful conduct of elections.

In a stark address, PM Modi alleged that these fabricated videos are being utilized as a nefarious tool to sow discord and disrupt the tranquil proceedings of elections. He asserted that these videos, created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), are designed to mimic the voices of prominent BJP and NDA leaders, including his own, BJP President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and various Chief Ministers.

Modi expressed dismay over the manipulation of technology to propagate false narratives, stating, “Those people who can’t take on NDA and BJP face-to-face, they’re now spreading fake videos on social media.” He highlighted the insidious nature of these videos, which purport to convey statements that the leaders have never uttered or contemplated.

The Prime Minister underscored the gravity of the situation, cautioning that these videos are part of a larger conspiracy aimed at stoking societal tensions. He sounded an alarm, suggesting that the perpetrators harbor intentions to disrupt the democratic fabric of the nation through deceitful means.

Emphasizing the importance of vigilance, Modi urged the public to remain steadfast against misinformation and ensure the peaceful conduct of elections. He reassured citizens that the government is taking proactive measures to address this grave issue and safeguard the integrity of the democratic process.

This incident sheds light on the escalating threat posed by the misuse of technology in disseminating misinformation and its potential ramifications on the democratic ethos. It underscores the pressing need for stringent regulations and heightened public awareness to combat the scourge of fake news and misinformation, thereby fortifying the foundations of democracy.
