Mobile Medical Unit Camp Held in Village Ang, 85 Patients Receive Free Healthcare Services

Khaltse: The Block Medical Office (BMO) Khaltse organised a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) camp at Village Ang to deliver specialised healthcare services to residents of the remote region.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Block Medical Officer, with the aim of improving access to essential medical care in underserved areas of Ladakh.


Multi-Specialty Medical Team Deployed

A team of medical professionals was deputed to conduct the outreach programme, including:

  • Dr. Stanzin Yangdol – Physician
  • Dr. Ashish Vaishnav – Medical Officer
  • Dr. Shaista Iqbal – Dental Surgeon
  • Dr. Stanzin Lazes – Medical Officer (Amchi)

The initiative ensured that residents received consultations across multiple specialties in a single outreach visit.


85 Patients Benefit from Free Medical Services

A total of 85 patients attended the medical camp and availed healthcare services, including:

  • 34 physician consultations
  • 18 general medical consultations
  • 17 dental consultations
  • 12 Amchi (traditional medicine) consultations

In addition to routine medical care, Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening was conducted for eligible individuals, focusing on early detection of diabetes and hypertension.


Strengthening Rural Healthcare Access

The successful organisation of the Mobile Medical Unit camp provided much-needed medical relief to the residents of Village Ang, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening rural healthcare delivery in remote and high-altitude regions.

Such outreach initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring early diagnosis, preventive care and improved health outcomes for communities with limited access to regular medical facilities.
