PM Modi Pays Tribute to Bhagwan Mahavir on Mahavir Jayanti, Highlights Prakrit’s Classical Language Status

On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to Bhagwan Mahavir, honoring his timeless teachings of non-violence, truth, and compassion. The Prime Minister acknowledged that these ideals continue to inspire and empower people across the globe.

In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “We all bow to Bhagwan Mahavir… His ideals give strength to countless people all around the world.” He further appreciated the Jain community for preserving and popularizing Mahavir’s message through generations and for their contributions to society and national development.

PM Modi also underlined the government’s commitment to uphold Mahavir’s vision by highlighting a major linguistic milestone: the conferring of Classical Language status to Prakrit—a language deeply connected with Jain teachings. He noted that the move received widespread appreciation and was a step toward honoring India’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy.

Reaffirming his government’s dedication, PM Modi said, “Our Government will always work to fulfil the vision of Bhagwan Mahavir.”
