Cyclone Ditwah: Railway Minister Reviews Preparedness, War Rooms Activated Across Railway Network

Date:

In view of the approaching Cyclone Ditwah, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the preparedness of Southern Railway teams to ensure minimal disruption to rail operations in vulnerable regions.

According to the Railway Ministry, dedicated War Rooms at the Railway Board, zonal, and divisional levels have been activated to monitor the situation round-the-clock and coordinate swift responses as the cyclone progresses.

Southern Railway officials have been put on high alert, with special focus on safety measures, inspection of tracks, overhead equipment, station premises, and other critical infrastructure. Emergency teams, restoration units, and backup resources have been mobilized to respond promptly in case of any disruption.

The Railways is also maintaining close coordination with state governments, disaster management authorities, and local administrations to ensure seamless evacuation support, if required, and to take preventive measures based on real-time weather updates.

The ministry stated that continuous monitoring will continue until the situation stabilizes and normalcy is fully restored.
